A North Carolina police department has shared images of work done by officers and community members in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in September.
The Black Mountain Police Department created and posted online a 10-minute video that showed the destruction caused by the Sept. 24 storm. The video also captured officers working with citizens to clear debris.
"People came from everywhere to assist us," Chief Steve Parker told WLOS-TV.
"I was able to call the (Charlotte-Mecklenburg police) chief there, who is my friend, and said I need help, and I need help now," he added. "They came and rescued people who had no way out."

The video is divided into four chapters depicting the storm, its destruction, the rescues and the efforts of the community in the hurricane's aftermath.
"(W)e wanted to talk about the recovery process and how we started to move forward," said Parker. "And last, we wanted to talk about where we were in the last chapter and how the communities have come together and how we recover from power and water."
